About Salary Calculator

About DSalaryCalculator UK £ DSalaryCalculator UK Accurate UK salary, tax and payroll calculators. Built on official HMRC rates. Free forever.
DSalaryCalculator UK: free salary, tax and payroll calculators built on official HMRC rates.

Our mission

DSalaryCalculator UK exists for one reason: to give everyone in the UK a clear, honest answer to the question "what will I actually take home?" Tax bands, National Insurance thresholds, student loan repayments and pension rules change often, and the official guidance is not always easy to follow. Our calculators turn the official HMRC figures into simple, instant answers, free for everyone, with no sign-up and no hidden charges.

How our calculators work

Every calculator on this site follows the same methodology. We encode the current tax year's official rates and thresholds, including the personal allowance, income tax bands, employee and employer National Insurance rates, student loan repayment thresholds and statutory pay rates, into a central tax-year configuration. When you enter a salary, the calculator applies those rates step by step, exactly as payroll logic does, and shows a full breakdown of each deduction.

We show our working wherever it matters: most tools display each line of the calculation so you can verify the result yourself. Where a result depends on personal circumstances, such as tax codes or salary sacrifice arrangements, we say so clearly next to the figure.

Data sources

All rates and thresholds come from official UK government sources, primarily HMRC guidance and GOV.UK publications on income tax rates, National Insurance contributions, statutory payments and student loan repayments. At DSalaryCalculator UK we cross-check every figure against the published guidance before a new tax year goes live, and we link to the relevant GOV.UK pages from our guides so you can verify anything yourself.

Updated every tax year

UK tax rules change every April. We review and update all calculators, rates and guide content for each new tax year, and the site currently reflects the 2026/27 tax year (6 April 2026 to 5 April 2027). Each tool page states the tax year its figures apply to, so you always know what you are looking at.

Who runs DSalaryCalculator UK

DSalaryCalculator UK is run by a small independent UK-based team. We are not accountants, financial advisers or affiliated with HMRC or the government. We build free tools because we believe tax clarity should not sit behind a paywall or require an accountancy degree to understand.

Disclaimer

Our calculators provide estimates for general guidance only, based on the standard tax rules for the stated tax year. They do not account for every personal circumstance, such as non-standard tax codes, benefits in kind, multiple employments or overseas income. Nothing on this site constitutes financial, tax or legal advice. For decisions with significant consequences, such as salary negotiations, contractor arrangements or pension planning, please consult a qualified accountant or financial adviser.
